The Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, on Monday, called for strict enforcement of anti-corruption fights in the country.
Adams who made the assertions in Agege, Lagos, during the celebration of the 2023 edition of Wealth Festival ( Odun Aje ), berated the government on the devaluation of naira, pointing out that the naira has lost its value among the currencies of the world.
Royal fathers present at the event include the Onimapara of Mapara Kingdom, Oba Lateef Amodemaja; the Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu,Oba Asunmo Balogun; the Oniladaba of Ladaba Kingdom,Oba Nureni Eebudola Alugbin and the Onirokun of Irokun Kingdom, Oba Buhari Balogun.
Others are the Alagbegise of Agbegise Kingdom, Oba Joseph Ikudaisi and Oba of Ogunfayo land in Iwereku, ibeju Lekki,Oba Muftau Olanrewaju among others.
However, Adams who is also the global coordinator of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC), said, “It is sad to note that more than 80 percent of Nigeria’s revenues and incomes have been embezzled by those in power.
‘’There is a need for zero tolerance on corruption and there should be justice across the board. A just society is the one that allows the law to take its course, a just society is the one that is transparent and corrupt-free. We cannot live in sin and pray for God’s blessing to abound.
“Therefore, for us to get the mercy of the most -high God as a nation, there is need for zero tolerance on corruption. There should be prudence, accountability, justice among others, prayers and appeasing the deities are not enough.”
According to Adams, zero tolerance for corruption and justice remain key solutions to solving the Nigerian problems, even as he described the wealth festival as a means of identifying with the deity in charge of wealth.
Aare Adams said the devaluation of Nigerian naira was a sad reminder of our failure to understand the spirituality of wealth, adding that there is a spiritual meaning to wealth creation.
