Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has said that the implementation of the 2024 Appropriation Bill will be extended to June 2025.

Akpabio made this know on Wednesday at the joint sitting of the Senate and house of Representatives, in Abuja.

The former governor of Akwa Ibom State said that the 2024 Budget has achieved a 50% performance rate in capital expenditure and 48% in recurrent expenditure.

Akpabio said that the bill extending the 2024 budget will soon be transmitted to President Bola Tinubu for approval.

He said: “Your Excellency, we have noted the 2024 Budget performance.

“Given this great achievement, we have deemed it necessary to extend the life span of the 2024 Budget to June 30th, 2025.

“The enabling law for this extension will soon be placed before you for your assent as a testament to our appreciation for the great performance of the budget, ensuring that we build upon your momentum.

“We will not kill any reforms that you bring forward that will change this country.”

Akpabio commended Tinubu for his economic reforms, saying the president is fast becoming a national treasure.

He said the president has done his best to tackle the challenges met when he assumed office.
