A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and a House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti North Federal Constituency (II), Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole has hailed the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers’ intervention in dousing the tension in the legislative arm of government.
Akinlayo, in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti also lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for keeping to his promise of not meddling in the affairs of the legislative arm of government.
He also commended the leadership of the Ekiti State House of Assembly for implementing the monarchs’ peace recommendations by recalling the hitherto suspended lawmakers.
The APC candidate said the speed at which the disagreement was resolved was a pointer to the fact that both the governor and the royal fathers are desirous of peace and radical development in Ekiti.
“Let me use this opportunity to commend our royal fathers for the quick and genuine efforts at ending the parliamentary fiasco in Ekiti. I want to equally salute our amiable governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) for being a true leader and a statesman. The governor’s refusal to be dragged into the assembly’s feud is a good omen for the state and our democracy.
“It is my hope that the executive and legislature will now be working on the same page in order to better the lots of the common man in Ekiti,” Akinlayo said.
Akinlayo also expressed appreciation to other stakeholders, particularly the APC leadership in Ekiti who have shown genuine concern about the recent disquiet in the Assembly stressing that conflict resolution is a function of genuine passion and sincerity.
He, therefore, urged the monarchs and the good people of Ekiti State to continue to give their support to the current administration in order to deliver the much-needed dividend of democracy.
Recall that Ekiti Assembly was recently embroiled in a leadership crisis which led to the controversial removal and election of its speakers
Before the peace meeting, two persons, Gboyega Aribisogan and Olubunmi Adelugba had been laying claims to the speaker position.
However, the stakeholders have resolved that Adelugba who was elected by the majority should be allowed to function as the speaker.
