An Anambra State High Court sitting in Awka has arraigned three individuals in connection with the disappearance of Mr. Benjamin Ezemma, a billionaire estate developer and vice chairman of Dubai Estate, Awka.

In suit number AWK/6c/2025, the defendants were accused of conspiring and kidnapping Ezemma, popularly known as “Big Ben,” on November 12, 2024.

The three defendants—Ozo Jeff Nweke, Nwokoye Tochukwu, and David Chukwuemeka Chukwunonso—were present in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecution counsel, Mrs. P. N. Ofoma, a Deputy Director at the Anambra State Ministry of Justice, requested additional time to file her response.

Following an application by Chief Alex Ejesieme (SAN), counsel for the first defendant (Nweke), the presiding judge, Justice Ike Ogu, adjourned the case to March 7, 2025.

In his ruling, Justice Ogu ordered that Nweke and Chukwunonso be released on bail, while Tochukwu Nwokoye should remain in custody until the next hearing.
