Former Managing Director of the Kano State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), Dr. Bala Inuwa, has accused the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission of violating a court order by seizing his properties.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Inuwa alleged that the anti-graft agency confiscated properties worth billions of Naira, including trailers, fertilizer grinding machines, and other agricultural equipment, despite a High Court injunction barring any action on the assets.

Inuwa cited an order issued by Justice Aisha Ya’u of the Kano High Court in suit number K/M 1563/2024, which restrained the police and the commission from interfering with his property pending the determination of a substantive suit.

The court described the respondents’ actions, including forceful entry and the deployment of police officers, as unconstitutional and a breach of the applicants’ fundamental rights under Section 44 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Despite the ruling, Inuwa claimed the commission continued its actions, prompting him to secure an interim injunction to restrain the agency and maintain the status quo until the case is resolved.

Chairman of the commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, dismissed the allegations, arguing that the orders were obtained in default and had since lapsed.

“All the restraining orders were interim and have expired. Moreover, some of the orders applied only to police officers, who are no longer involved. We are now using personnel of the Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) under powers granted by Section 58 of the commission’s laws,” Rimin Gado said.
