A devastating fire swept through an unidentified factory in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday night, ravaging the facility and destroying items worth billions of naira.
The inferno, which began around 10 p.m., sent workers and nearby residents fleeing for safety.
According to Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the agency responded promptly to a distress call at 8:41 p.m. “We arrived to find a well-alight fire at Imperio International, located at 6 Ayodele Diyan Street, off Ladipo Oluwole Street, Ikeja,” Adeseye explained.
The director revealed that the fire originated from a warehouse block used to store products such as body sprays and creams. “The fire has been confined to the warehouse block to prevent it from spreading to adjoining buildings within the business premises,” she added.
As firefighting operations continued, the cause of the blaze remained unknown. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, in collaboration with other emergency agencies, is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
“We will leave no stone unturned in uncovering the root cause of this devastating fire,” Adeseye assured. “Our priority is to ensure public safety and prevent such incidents in the future.”
The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but initial estimates suggest billions of naira in losses.
“This is a significant blow to the business community in Lagos,” said Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Wale Ahmed. “We will work closely with the affected parties to provide support and ensure a swift recovery.”
