The people of Ita-Akun in Irewole local government area of Osun State have called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to intervene and reverse the installation and coronation of Morufu Adesoji Fabowale as the Sooko of Ita-Akun to forestall crisis in the community.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo yesterday, the head of the community, Chief Dairo Adeoye, in company of other leaders of the area, posited that the appointment and installation of Fabowale did not follow due process.

He said, “We plead with Governor Ademola Adeleke to reverse the appointment and installation of Morufu Fabowale as the Sooko of Ita-Akun to forestall crisis in the community.

“We call on him to vividly look with a bid to sanitise the activities of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs before it brings the state into crisis and to stop the sale of traditional institutions to highest bidders.’’

 

 

 

The community who called for the setting up of a committee to look into the current appointment of the Sooko, warned of the consequence of performing the coronation of Morufu Fabowale as the Sooko of Ita-Akun.

 

 

 

They also charged the government to obey the rule of law, adding that some elements in service have continued to shun the rule of law without the knowledge of the governor.

 

 

 

The community insisted that there are only four ruling houses in Ita-Akun namely, Ademuyiwa, Falade, Metiku, and Atere adding that Molaja house is not a ruling house for the purpose of the chieftaincy.
