Natives of Abuja under the auspices of Abuja Original Inhabitants Youths Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO) had launched a platform known as Know, ASK and Follow (KAF), a dynamic enlightenment and accountability initiative that advocates for the fair distribution of governmental interventions in communities.
The communications manager of the organisation, Blessing Moses in a press briefing on the launch of the platform yesterday in Abuja, explained that KAF Frameworks are a series of application frameworks that enable communities to generate diverse accountability queries for and to their elected representatives and government-appointed executives.
According to Moses, KAF will be empowered by the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act to write and get answers to the plans and implementation progress of governmental and international projects in Abuja communities.
“The main objective is to promote transparency and accountability in governance as well as mobilize citizens by building their capacities to track and monitor governmental projects and international interventions in their communities and ultimately, on how to hold their elected representatives and government-appointed executives accountable.
“The platform will enable FCT OI’s work towards an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development pathway, especially in the context of accountability and performance of government officials. This will work through the use of questionnaires both online and offline.
“To equip original inhabitants communities with skills and technical capacities required to sustainably and lawfully advocate for their rights and interests with participation in governance.
“We want to access public projects, previously abandoned or which otherwise would not have been implemented, being restarted, and completed, due to the tracking and monitoring of grassroots projects by these community volunteers. Thereby, facilitating social Development in these communities, fighting inequality and poverty, and advocating inclusive development,” she said.
