Yobe State Government is proposing to spend the sum of N320.8b in the incoming fiscal year.
Governor Mai Mala Buni stated this while presenting finance and appropriation bills before the State House of Assembly.
According to him, the sum of N144,036,787,000, representing 44.9% is proposed as recurrent expenditure, while N176,774,213,000, representing 55.1% is allocated for capital expenditure.
He said the 2025 budget would seek to entrench policy of completing all ongoing, as well as embark on new essential projects, hence tagged the budeget as, “the Budget of Economic Consolidation and Poverty Reduction”.
“Our watchword would remain the observance of due process, transparency, and adherence to budgetary provisions, blocking leakages and providing the enabling environment to woo investments that would turn around the fortunes of the State”, Buni said.
He gave the account of the major achievements recorded during the outgoing fiscal year that cuts across all sectors of the economy.
He lamented that the unfavourable exchange rates and the unabated inflation rate had continued to negatively impact on execution of projects and programmes.
“The global economic challenges in recent years, Nigeria and Yobe state inclusive, has made budget implementation quite challenging due to the ever increasing rate of inflation.
“This simply implies that more funds are needed in the execution of our projects and programmes to attain our projected accomplishments”, Buni said.
